Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream (#27 Honey Beige) UPDATED REVIEW

I've been using this bb cream quite often, thus my opinion of it has slightly changed.  I do find that for my oily skin, the bb cream really lives up to its claims if used with a primer and pressed powder.  I use either the Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer or the Black Radiance Primer along with the Revlon Nearly Naked Powder or Maybelline's Dream Matte powder.  It all just depends on how I'm feeling on that specific day.  I don't think different powders or primers I use with it effect the longevity of this particular bb cream, but with my other foundations I have noticed that the Revlon Photoready primer does keep me matte a little longer. Of course, at the end of the day I can definitely see the product on my fingers if I touch my face.  Therefore, without primer and powder I can probably last 2-3 hours max without my face looking like an oil stick.  However, with a primer and powder I can go about 9 hours without blotting or touching up.  My T-zone gets slightly oily at the eight or ninth hour mark, but it's not too noticeable where I have to blot and touch up.

I'm pretty satisfied with the product, I think all skin types can try out this product.  Normal and dry gals/guys will love this.  Oily/Combination skin peeps will come to love it as well, as long as you use a primer and/or powder!  It has a medium, but buildable coverage.  Great for acne prone skin that needs a high coverage.  It won't cover the zits/acne completely, however, it will cover it enough to achieve a natural 'perfect' finish.

Covergirl Clean Oil Control Foundation Review

Hello lovelies!  So it's time to review another foundation of mine and this is the Covergirl Clean Oil Control foundation.  It's has a blue cap and there are also other versions of this foundation (i.e. Normal Skin and Sensitive Skin) and they have different colored caps as well. Let's get down to it, shall we?

30 ml/ Retails for around $5
Product claim:
"With our Clean Oil Control Makeup, you'll get all the shine control you want, without the drying coverage you don't. Our Clean foundation is made with ultra-light oil-absorbers that control oil, plus gentle conditioners that help prevent dryness."

I got this for $5 at Target which is a pretty good deal for those of you on a low budget.  So I have the shade 555 'Soft Honey'. It does have a paint smell like most foundations do, but that doesn't really bother me.  When I did use it, the shade was perfect for my skin but I found that around 30 minutes to an hour later it would oxidize to an orange finish.  I'm not really sure if the other shades oxidize, but I can tell you that this one does.

Now let's get down to the coverage, finish, and all that good stuff.  Okay so, usually I'm looking for a medium to full coverage foundation.  Does this foundation have that?  No.  It has a sheer, light coverage which is not my cup of tea.  But only because I have acne, as well as acne scars. And this did not cover it at all.  When I applied it, it seemed to cover any redness I had, but it did not cover my pimples, acne, or acne scars that I had at the time.  But, I would definitely recommend this to any of you that have almost perfect skin and just use foundation for minimal purposes such as evening skin tone or covering redness. On the plus side, it does give a matte finish, which is promised on the bottle.  Also, it does control oil a lot longer than most drugstore foundations do, but only to an extent and not completely if you know what I mean? Basically, it keeps my skin matte longer than a lot of drugstore foundations I've tried, but my oil still seems to seep through because I do have probably the oily-est skin in the world haha. It keeps my shine at bay for about 4-5 hours. On the downside, this particular version did accentuate any dry areas and patches that I had.
Because of my super oily, acne prone skin, this product didn't do any justice on my face.

Pros:
  • Cheap! ~$5
  • Matte finish
  • Good oil control for those with minimal oily skin
  • Absorbs oil
  • Keeps MY shine at bay for about 4-5 hours
Cons:
  • Oxides to an orange finish
  • Accentuates dry areas/patches
  • Sheer Coverage (Can also be a pro)

Final Verdict:  If you have minimally oily skin, then this foundation will soak up all that oil and keep you matte.  Also, if you're looking for a foundation that will cover acne and acne scars, this product is not for you.  I would recommend this product to people with normal skin and also those of you that have almost perfect skin that only need foundation to even out your skin tone, need sheer coverage, etc. Lastly, it's a good deal for a drugstore product!

Loreal Visible Lift Serum Absolute Foundation Review

I've been using this product for awhile so here is my review finally!  I currently own the shade:  Sun Beige #154.  I got this for $12 at Target.  I've finally found a foundation shade that really is a close match to my yellow undertoned skin!  Thank you L'Oreal for having a variety of shades that aren't just pink undertoned!  This is an advanced age reversing product that contains pro-retinol A + Vitamin C.  It obviously is supposed to 'lift' your skin, but I haven't seen a dramatic change in my skin.  I would say this foundation has a medium to full coverage.  It has about the same coverage as the Revlon Colorstay, in my opinion which is why I like it, and it feels a lot lighter than Colorstay.  The only downside to this almost perfect foundation is that it slips off my skin a little, but with a powder it doesn't slip as much.  When you look inside the bottle, you can see little shimmers in the formula, but it really doesn't even show up when applied so there's nothing to be worried about when you see them.  This is a pretty good foundation for now, but I can already tell you I'll still be on the lookout a drugstore oil control holy grail foundation.  Let me know if you know of any!

Pros:

  • Nice range of shades for yellow, pink, and neutral under tones.
  • Doesn't look cakey when applied more than once
  • Medium to Full Coverage
  • Feels light on skin
  • SPF 17
Cons:
  • Poor oil control
Final Verdict:  I would recommend this foundation for normal/ dry skin.  But if you have oily skin and still want to try it, make sure you use a powder.  With a powder, it keeps my shine at bay for about 4-5 hours.  Other than that, it's a great foundation  It has medium to full coverage, which is great for people with acne like myself.  It doesn't even look cakey if you apply more than one coat or if you apply a powder!  Feel free to watch my video review down below!

Ulta Mini Haul!

I couldn't find anything at Ross, TJMAXX, or Kohl's so I decided to mini splurge on makeup at Ulta.
So this is what I picked up:

Maybelline Volum'Express the Falsies Mascara: 291 Very Black (Waterproof)
$5.99

Maybelline has been my go-to brand for drugstore mascara. But I couldn't decide between the mega plush or colossal formula so I jus decided to go with this one.  Hopefully it's a good mascara though.  I just needed a waterproof mascara so I can wear it to Busch Gardens haha.

Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil: 608 Cottage Cheese
$4.49

I should've bought more NYX products because Ulta is having a 50% sale off of all NYX cosmetics!!! I was so surprised when I looked at my receipt.  And I even had my eyes on some single eyeshadows. Darn! I'm not sure how long this sale is going so you better drop by your local Ulta now! I think NYX is definitely my favorite drugstore makeup brand.  The shade 'Milk' has been on my makeup list for awhile but for some reason they didn't it. ): I've heard this shade can be used as a highlight, base, etc. So I'm looking forward to using it!

NYX Liquid Crystal Liner:  Crystal Silk
$4.49

Another NYX item! I'm going to use this to line my upper and lower lash lines to create a dramatic and more exciting effect on my eye makeup.

Review on these products coming soon!  Stay tuned!

Influenster Sugar 'N Spice Voxbox 2013

I just received MY FIRST VOXBOX on Wednesday and I've been testing out the products for 3 days. I'm so excited to share all the things in it with you guys!  So I signed up to be an Influenster member months ago and there really isn't a guarantee that you'll receive one but lucky me:  I finally got one!  So let's get started with the products shall we?

Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer Total Moisturizer

$7.99 for 6.5 oz. can
New Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer Total Moisture is a continuous spray lotion that moisturizes and absorbs in seconds, and leaves skin feeling instantly soft-not sticky or greasy.  Now you won't have to wait for your lotion to absorb before pulling on those skinny jeans!
My Opinion:
I'm in love with this product!  I love how it's a spray on lotion, which makes it convenient when you're in a rush to get out the door and it's just so easy to use!  All you do is:  Spray, rub, and go.  It has a light texture and it it's non-greasy so you can actually turn a door knob without your hands slipping from it.  It doesn't have a strong scent which is definitely a plus for those who have allergies or sensitive to strong scents.  The only downside of this product is that, if you have really dry skin, this probably won't fully satiate your dry skin.  It's better to use as a light moisturizer with lightly dry skin.

BelVita Breakfast Biscuits

$3.69 for a box of 5 packets of 4 biscuits
belVita Breakfast Biscuits are made with delicious ingredients and carefully baked to release steady energy that lasts all morning.  They are a good source of Fiber and B-vitamins, contain no high fructose corn syrup, have 18-20 grams of whole grain per 50 gram serving and taste great - perfect for on-the-go!
My Opinion:  I'm not really a fan of breakfast bars but these are actually pretty good.  I was eating them on my way to practice and they filled me up pretty quickly.  Their taste is similar to the Nature Valley granola bars in oats n' honey and those use to be my favorite granola bars EVER.  So glad I got the chance to try these cos they're delicious!  Perfect for breakfast or exercise!

Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Oil Controlling Towelettes

$5.99 for a 20-count box

My Opinion:  The 'touched with aloe' definitely sold me on these.  I love face products that have aloe, because aloe on your face is very beneficial for your skin and it makes your skin feel good.  I've actually only used these once, just after I washed my face with my cleanser.  So after I rubbed these babies on my face, I noticed that it took off some of my foundation that the cleanser didn't remove off of my skin.  The towelette didn't even leave my face feeling sticky or oily, which is a plus.  The witch hazel claims to refine pores, remove & control oil, soothes irritation, and lock in moisture.  These would definitely be good to use after exercising or to keep handy in your purse.
Rate:  5/5

Colgate Optic White Regimen:

Toothpaste:  $2.99 for 4oz tube
Mouthwash:  $2.99 for 8oz bottle
Toothbrush:  $2.99 per brush

My Opinion:  I've been using the optic white toothpaste since the summer, so I'm pretty familiar with it.  The toothpaste alone has slightly improved the yellow in my teeth.  The only thing I don't like about the toothpaste and the mouthwash is the taste!  For some reason, they don't have that minty fresh taste that appeals to me.  I can't really describe it, but it tastes kind of weird.  Other than that, I don't have a problem with it.  Okay, so I love this toothbrush!  I love the whitening caps and tongue/cheek scraper also.  The whitening caps are made to leave more room for the toothpaste on the brush.  I love this toothbrush because I have braces and the whitening caps/bristles on it removes ALL of the food in hard to reach places in the braces.  So it's pretty handy.

Nectresse

Unfortunately, I don't drink coffee so I haven't used this product yet. I'll probably give it to my dad for him to use.

That's it! Thanks for reading!  Hopefully I can get another Voxbox soon!

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Walmart Mini Haul

Picked up the 'Sinful Colors Professional' nail polish in 'Rise & Shine'. Rise & Shine is a sea green color. There has been quite a big rave about these nail polishes in the makeup world at the moment. I'm in love with this nail polish line. I currently only have 2 of these but I should've picked up more! They're only $2 at Walmart go and pick some up! Walmart has a limited selection of this line and a lot of them were gone when I went. I'm definitely gonna pick some more colors up the next time I go.

I also picked up the Revlon Colorstay foundation for $9 in natural beige. This is my first ever foundation since I have only used asian bb creams. I was kind of skeptical about picking the shade since you couldn't really swatch it cos people were around me haha. But I guessed natural beige as my shade. Hopefully it fits me! I know that these have also been big in the YouTube and beauty world. Hopefully I can agree with them and do a review on it soon. So stay tuned!

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream (No. 27 Honey Beige) Review

So I've been using this bb cream for about a month and I think it's time for a review! I had already posted the background information about this product and all that jazz here.

I'm pretty sure you all of heard of BB creams but if you have not already, here is a brief definition from Wikipedia:
BB cream stands for blemish balmblemish basebeauty balm or beblesh balm(apparently because of a trademark in Korea on the word "blemish"), and in Western markets, beauty balm. It is a cosmetic item sold mainly in East and Southeast Asia, although larger beauty brands are increasingly introducing BB creams to Western markets.[1] The cream is promoted as a multi-tasker, an all-in-one treatment, but Korean women mostly use it as an alternative to foundation, especially Western foundations that tend to be too heavy for their taste. The coverage is often mineral-based, and is intended to both cover and treat blemishes such as acne, sun spots and age spots. It also has anti-wrinkle, anti-inflammatory and soothing effects. Several contain hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C

So they've been pretty popular for awhile in Asia and because many Korean actresses are promoting them. Just recently, the U.S. has started to jump on the bandwagon. Now I have yet to try an American BB cream because I'm so used to Asian ones and I've heard that most of them are practically just tinted moisturizers.  Also, BB creams aren't supposed to clog your pores like some foundations can and they haven't broke out my acne-prone skin so far.  Maybe sometime in the future, I will try an American BB cream or foundation.

Anyways, let's get started shall we?:

This is the packaging.  I love how it has a pump so you can control how much product comes out.  A little bit really does go a long way---one dime sized pump covers my whole face!  It's more on the liquid side which does make it easier to blend but I do prefer foundations/bb creams that are more creamier.  There's a slight baby powder smell when first applied but throughout the day, you can barely smell it.  It does feel sticky when first applied, but as it dries you can't feel it at all.  This shade is most likely better for those who have yellow undertones----it's a perfect mix between beige and yellow undertones.

Here are pictures of before, right after, and 10 minutes after.

                                                                               Before:
As you can see, I have a whole bunch of acne on my forehead, cheeks, and I have some on my temples.  :(  And I also have some redness going on.

      After:

                                                           10 Minutes After (Oxidized):

As you can see, it did cover up any redness, acne scars, and acne I had.  I would say it has a light to medium coverage.  It can get cakey so I make sure not to over-do it.  I think this bb cream has slightly more coverage than the Skin79 Hot Pink one.  But my favorite still has to be the Skin79 bb cream. I'll be doing a review on that one as well. Here are the Pros and Cons of the Missha Perfect Cover BB cream:

Pros:

  • Matches well with my skin tone.
  • Blends well.
  • Oxidizes well.
  • Only have to blot once in 5 hours.
  • Light-medium coverage. (Buildable)
  • Doesn't have the signature bb cream white cast.
  • Natural finish
  • Lightweight
Cons:
  • Barely controls oil.
  • Melts off my face
The only really downside to this bb cream is that it does not control oil.  I do have a naturally oily face but I have noticed that my face is only super oily if I use bb cream.  So maybe it's because of this but I've noticed that my oil shines through the bb cream an hour or two after I apply it.  And when I touch my face,  a little of the bb cream just comes off on my fingers.  I also have to blot once about 5 hours after applied, which isn't really a bother since with my other bb cream, I have to blot anyway because none of them really control oil.  But it's tedious constantly having to blot my face.

Don't get me wrong, I love bb cream and I love the idea of it.  It's just that, I've tried 2 bb creams so far and none of them control my oil.  I've spent about $20 each on them so it's really not worth it if it doesn't control my oil.  So when I run out of both, I'm most likely going to buy an american foundation that controls oil.  Hopefully that works better than the bb cream.

FINAL VERDICT:  Don't recommend if you have oily skin, maybe if you had normal/dry or slightly oily skin this product will work for you.  Good coverage especially on acne---not full coverage but covers enough of it so your face looks natural.  Comes in about 4 different shades which is better compared to the limited shades other bb creams have.  Someone with a dark skin tone can even use this bb cream, the darkest shade is called 'Golden Beige.' Oxidizes, blends, and matches with my skin tone.

Love the One You're With by Emily Giffin

I just finished reading the novel 'Love the One You're With" by Emily Giffin. This is actually the first book I've read of hers, besides seeing the movie 'Something Burrowed'. I liked it. It wasn't too mind-blowingly fantastic, but it was a good read. Although, it was really hard to put down because I was constantly wondering what the main character, Ellen was thinking and what she was going to do next.

Now I've heard that most of her books involve romance and this is definitely your typical Emily Giffin book. The summary from the back of the book reads:
"Ellen and Andy Graham have the perfect marriage. There is no question how deep their devotion and how naturally they bring out the best in each other. But one fateful afternoon, Ellen runs into Leo. The one who brought out the worst in her. The one who left her heartbroken nearly a decade ago. The one she could never quite forget. When his reappearance ignites long dormant emotions, Ellen begins to question whether the life she's living is the one she's meant to live."
So I got this at Barnes and Nobles for $15. I was quite torn about buying this book or another book I picked up there, but the subtitle line on this book just grabbed me. It said: "A novel for anyone who has ever wondered: How can I truly love the one I'm with, when I can't forget the one who got away?" Now I'm a sucker for romance books and life lessons revolving around love. So I just had to get this book.

This book definitely tugged at my heart strings. There wasn't anything too dramatic in it but I felt like I was actually Ellen, the plot and context was so real. There are quite a few flashbacks from Ellen's point of view to give you a bit of background detail of her life before her husband Andy and parts of her life before and after college. Also, I felt like I knew the characters and I could picture them in my head because of the descriptive summaries Emily writes about them. It's not just one of those cliché fairytale novels, this book depicts real problems and love complexes that ordinary people deal with; first loves and their complications that come with it. But I don't want to spoil anything for anyone so overall I definitely recommend this book to anyone that's looking for a light-hearted romance novel packed with life lessons.

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream has arrived!

So I ordered the Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream in No. 27 Honey Beige from Amazon from a seller named 'GiftWorldPlus' last Sunday I believe. I think GiftWorldPlus sells other shades in this BB cream also.  I was a little skeptical about buying a bb cream on Amazon because I've heard that some of those sellers do sell some fake products.  But this BB cream seems legit based on the swatches and packaging.  I have yet to try this on my face but I probably will sometime soon and review it.  This was $20.  I decided to get this on Amazon because I usually order from PrettyandCute but sadly they retailed this bb cream for $28. Too expensive!

It has a handy little pump that will really give you more control of how much product you use.

Regular hand on the left and bb cream blended on my right.  It's a tad bit tanner than my hand is but it'll probably oxidize.  But this bb cream will probably match my skin in the summer when I actually tan lol.  Right now I'm using the Skin79 Hot Pink which oxides and matches really well with my untanned skin in the winter~ c:

Review Coming Soon! Maybe I'll even do a review comparing the two? (:

Navy Exchange Haul

So there were extremely good deals at the Navy Exchange today. And since it's sort of almost spring, I decided to stock up on some spring/summer clothes and stray away from sweaters and what not. In the junior section it was 30% off of anything that had 97 or 95 cents behind it or something like that. I know that's not a lot but hey, it's better than nothing right? I got 4 items for around $40-$50. If I was at the mall 4 items would probably be like $80 so I got some pretty good deals I think.

-So the first thing is this plain Jane fitted Goldish black shirt. It went from $7 to $5.

-Cute flowy floral top. $19 to $13.

-Green Chiffon button up top. The top back part of the shirt is laced. $15 to $11.

-Pencil skirt type dress. It has a blue chiffon short sleeve top attached to it, skinny black belt at the waist, and the skirt is designed with black and white stripes. I was kind of skeptical about buying it but then I was like "What the heck. I can rock this." Haha. $23 to $16.

-Lastly, I got the Revlon Photoready Concealer Stick in Light Medium that I've been dying to buy. It was originally $8 but I had a $2 off coupon for any concealer, foundation, blush, etc. product. So it turned out to be around $6. Yay for sales and coupons! But, I will be reviewing this soon, so look out for that!

Anyways, until the next post, see ya!

Overnight Waves (NO HEAT)

I love using this technique to create those effortless looking waves. This hairstyle is also so simple, looks natural, and requires no heat.  You should do this with damp hair and the night before.

The technique is quite simple, all you're really doing is french braiding your hair (adding hair from the back and front of your head to the braid) from the top and regularly braiding it when you get to the bottom.  Watch this tutorial to see how! c:

Favorite Mascara!

So I finally went to Target yesterday and stocked up on my favorite mascara EVER: L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara in Black.  But this summer until now, I've been using the Maybelline Volum'Express Mega Plush Mascara in Blackest Black because I wanted to try to find a new favorite mascara.  And I must say that nothing beats L'Oreal's formula. Over the years, I've also used Cover Girl and Almay but I assure you that L'Oreal is by far THE BEST. It turned out to be around $8.  This mascara claims to be smudge-proof and clump-free which I can say that it is true to its description.  I remember last year when I was wearing this mascara on my bare lashes, one of my friends had even asked me if my lashes were fake!  It keeps my lashes looking volumized and it's pretty long-lasting.  I'm telling you guys that this is the best mascara you'll ever use. Once you try this out, you'll never go back to another mascara! Even my friend tried this and she said she loves it as well.

December Favorites 2012

Hi everyone!  I know this is kind of late but here we go!

First up is the Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Acne Cream Cleanser.
It's a medicated cleanser and has salicyllic acid inside. I really love the feeling this gives me after I wash my face. It gives me like a cooling sensation on my face. And I also love the the smell!  I went to the dermatologist a few weeks ago for my horrible acne and she prescribed me an antibiotic, medicated lotion, and an acne gel. Now, I can't say that this cleanser alone has helped clear away my acne because I'm actually alternating between this cleanser and another non-medicated cleanser every day and night because medicated cleansers can irritate your face if you overuse them. But overall, I think this would be a great product for anyone that has already great skin or minor impurities and is just looking for a simple drugstore cleanser.

Next is the CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion.
This was also prescribed to me by dermatologist.  She gave me a little sample bottle and it lasted me for a while actually, I got it around November maybe and I still have a in the bottle.  I just use literally a dime size amount and that covers my entire face. As they say, "A little goes a
long way."  I just got the pump version from Walgreen's and it was about $14 with a $2 coupon she also gave me. On the bottle it says it moisturizes, restores & maintains protective skin barrier. But with that saying, I really love this lotion. This is the best lotion I have ever tried in my life! Haha.  It makes me skin feel like a marshmallow! It's a bit pricey, but it really is worth it!

Next is the Revlon Just Kissable Balm Stain in Honey.
I adore this product in general but my favorite color is Honey.  This color is really a natural cute pink color that you can probably wear as an everyday lip stain.  My mom even told me that she liked this color on me so because it looks so natural so. Haha.  I've done a review on these and went further in depth with it so you should go check that out.

Next is the Maybelline 015 Born With It Lipstick.
I got this at Ulta for about $7. And this is a nude pink color.  When I opened it I didn't know that there would be sparkles in the formula but when put on the sparkles aren't too noticeable on your lips.  But, I do like the color; it's a very flattering nude-pink.  The only problem I had with it was that after 4-5 hours, I don't know if it was my lips or the product because my lips are normally very dry but my lips did get dry around that amount of time and the lipstick seeped into the cracks of my lips making my lips look so ugly. But that's the only con I had with this.

Next is the Nyx Matte Lipstick in Bloody Mary.
And okay this is by far my favorite brand of lipstick like EVER.  I only have this shade but when I get the chance, I WILL BUY MORE.  I got this at Ulta for $6-$7 I can't remember.  And this color is like a cranberry color---in between a hot pink and red color.  This product didn't seep into the cracks of my lips and it actually covered the lines on my lips slightly which is probably because it is a matte lipstick. But I really recommend this brand and shade to you all!

Next is the Foundation/Concealer dual brush by Up&Up (target brand).
I don't remember how much it was but it was pretty cheap.  I was looking for a cheap dual brush that wasn't $20 or more and coincidentally found this one. This one is definitely better than my Elf Foundation brush because my Elf brush started leaving streaks on my face so I had to throw it out and it was getting old anyway.  This one doesn't leave streaks and the brush is soft. It's a pretty decent brush. I like it.

Lastly, is the Mac Brush Cleanser.
This product really does the job on my brushes; eyeliner and
foundation brushes.  I just put a drop on a paper towel and then I wipe the brush back and forth on it and all
the eyeliner and BB cream from the brushes come right off. I've had this since last spring and the bottle is still
pretty full. But considering I only clean my brushes once in a while---once a week? Or once every two weeks?

So yeah these are my December Favorites. Thanks for reading and until next time...bye!
