NYX Lingerie Lipsticks Review

Hi my beauties! I recently picked up four shades from the NYX Lingerie Lipstick collection. The shades I own are: Corset, Honeymoon, Beauty Mark, and Exotic. They retail for $6.99 at Ulta and both of the times I went to purchase these shades, there was a buy one get one 50% off sale so of course, an incentive to buy two instead of just one.

The first trip I made I had bought Honeymoon & Corset together & wanted to test them before I decided if I wanted to pursue the other colors I had my eye on. Coincidentally, these two shades were the only ones available at my local Ulta, And obviously, I did love them because I made another trip to buy Exotic and Beauty Mark. The first thing that attracted me to this line was the shade range. When I first heard about them I didn't think that I had to have them because the shade range looked like all nude colors and too light for my skin tone. It's true that they most of their shades are nude toned, but you can definitely find some amazing darker grey and brown tones, which for the last couple of months I have been gravitating towards.

Packaging:
The scent that I get from these smells like a dry erase marker but once it's on my lips, I can't even tell that it has a scent. The packaging, I have noticed, looks similar to the Kylie Jenner lip kits. I can't compare them for you just because I don't own any because I can't justify spending over $7 on a single lipstick! Maybe one day, but for now, I prefer my drugstore and colourpop. Speaking of Colourpop, it is my favorite brand of lipsticks. I will always choose Colourpop over any lipstick I own, but I definitely recommend trying the NYX Lingerie Lipsticks!

Let's get down to the nitty-gritty and into the formula:
This formula feels more like a mousse on your lips. They do dry on matte; HOWEVER, once onto the lips, they feel tacky. When you smack your lips together after application, it will feel a little sticky. That can be a con for some, but for me, it wasn't something that was too unbearable. I found that to get the full color pigmentation, you want to apply at least two layers, with one the color looks a little sheer. As for fine lines, I found that Corset set into my fine lines but again it wasn't anything unbearable. With the other shades I did not notice it as much as I did with Corset so it might be that the lighter shades settle a little bit more into the lip's fine lines.

From left to right: Honeymoon, Corset, Beauty Mark, Exotic

Now I've only used Beauty Mark once, but I did find that I was re-applying it more than usual. I think I applied it around 4 times after eating and I even re-applied 30 minutes after applying the previous coat. I think it was because I was eating a very sloppy meal while I was wearing it. I think I was eating a burger & after that, my lipstick was looking very crusty and even a re-application did not fix this. Nonetheless, these lipsticks are long-lasting, but I do not recommend wearing them if you are eating a heavy/messy meal.

Final Verdict:
These are definitely worth trying. They are so impressive for a matte drugstore lipstick. This line carries beautiful pink, brown, and grey toned shades! I love all 4 shades that I purchased and do plan on getting more. With proper prepping with exfoliation and chapstick beforehand, you will love these lipsticks. They are long-wearing, but with limitations (avoid heavy eating). The formula is moussy & two coats will give the full color payout.

Welcome all!

Hello friends!
I wanted to announce that my blog will be up and running again! This is a project I want to start over and to reinvent...so here it goes...

Hi, I'm Kaitlin. I am a second year college student, just trying to find my purpose in life and to share my experiences down the road. I want to blog more about my life and also makeup related posts because I am obsessed with all things makeup related. I want to do a little experimenting with my blog, I want to make this into a beauty/advice blog. I know it sounds crazy because of all the concepts that can be infused into this, but bear with me. I wish success for this blog and to inspire at least one of you. Happy reading!

Love,
Kaitlin

Colgate Optic White Teeth Whitening Diary

One week:

You can definitely see the difference!  I do have plaque stains on my two front teeth that I have had for years now, hopefully after using this product they go away completely!

I have received these products complimentary through Influenster for testing and review purposes only.

Colgate Optic White VoxBox

I was extremely excited when I found out I was qualified for my second voxbox!  After all, it's been a year since I have received one.  Let's get down to it shall we?

This Voxbox comes with a Colgate Optic White Toothbrush, built-in whitening pen, whitening toothpaste, and six three dollar off coupons for your next Colgate Optic White Toothbrush.
How it Works: Our advanced whitening formula in the whitening pen goes beyond surface stains to deeply whiten teeth.  So you can get whiter teeth in just 2 days.

I have tried countless amounts of whitening products such as toothpastes, whitening strips, and mouth washes, however my teeth just do not want to be whitened.  So when I received this voxbox I did not expect to work because of my disappointing history of  whitening products, but I have noticed slightly positive results!

Whitening Pen:  I received this voxbox about a week ago and I have been using the products ever since.  The whitening pen is so convenient that I enjoy using it every night after brushing my teeth!   All you need to do is paint the paste on and voila!  You can just go to bed, no need for rinsing or anything!  After use, the toothbrush has a handy slot the pen can slide in.  Can't get anymore organized than that!  The directions say that 2 clicks for the bottom and top teeth should be enough, however sometimes I go for 3 just to make sure it is enough. Like whitening strips I only apply the paste to the teeth that are visible when I smile.  Applying the product to the teeth that will not be seen seems a bit wasteful.  The paste does not taste unpleasant, at all.  It almost tastes like the toothpaste but maybe with a mintier taste. Although, the paste is a bit thicker than the toothpaste, it can make the lips feel dry if it accidentally gets on them.  On the second day of usage I did not notice my teeth getting any whiter, however on the seventh day, my mom pointed out that my teeth had been slightly whiter.  Imagine how white my teeth would be after using this every night for a month!  Now, the directions do say to use the toothpaste and pen two times a day for better results, but I really do not have the time to do it in the morning because I am always rushing to get ready.
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Toothbrush:  I really like the toothbrush.  It is a bit bulkier than normal toothbrushes, but only because it also holds the whitening pen.  The whitening caps really do their job when trying to get to all the teeth. The back of the brush also comes with a tongue scraper which is always convenient.  I find that my breath stays fresh longer after I have used the tongue scraper.
Rating:  5 out of 5 stars

Toothpaste:  I have used this toothpaste before and I did not notice any whitening effects.  I feel as if the whitening pen is the star product out of the whole voxbox.   Using this with the whitening pen is probably what makes whitening more effective.  I am not so crazy about the taste, like I said, I have used this before so I am used to it, but some of you may not enjoy it.  I cannot really describe it, it just tastes like plain mint.  Not like regular mint flavored toothpaste that tastes sweet or refreshing.  It just tastes like mint.

Rating:  4.5 out of 5 stars

Final Verdict:  I highly recommend these products!  They are reliable and more effective than many other whitening products!  As far as whitening goes, I think the whitening pen and whitening toothpaste combined makes teeth whitening much more effective!

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream (#27 Honey Beige) UPDATED REVIEW

I've been using this bb cream quite often, thus my opinion of it has slightly changed.  I do find that for my oily skin, the bb cream really lives up to its claims if used with a primer and pressed powder.  I use either the Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer or the Black Radiance Primer along with the Revlon Nearly Naked Powder or Maybelline's Dream Matte powder.  It all just depends on how I'm feeling on that specific day.  I don't think different powders or primers I use with it effect the longevity of this particular bb cream, but with my other foundations I have noticed that the Revlon Photoready primer does keep me matte a little longer. Of course, at the end of the day I can definitely see the product on my fingers if I touch my face.  Therefore, without primer and powder I can probably last 2-3 hours max without my face looking like an oil stick.  However, with a primer and powder I can go about 9 hours without blotting or touching up.  My T-zone gets slightly oily at the eight or ninth hour mark, but it's not too noticeable where I have to blot and touch up.

I'm pretty satisfied with the product, I think all skin types can try out this product.  Normal and dry gals/guys will love this.  Oily/Combination skin peeps will come to love it as well, as long as you use a primer and/or powder!  It has a medium, but buildable coverage.  Great for acne prone skin that needs a high coverage.  It won't cover the zits/acne completely, however, it will cover it enough to achieve a natural 'perfect' finish.

Covergirl Clean Oil Control Foundation Review

Hello lovelies!  So it's time to review another foundation of mine and this is the Covergirl Clean Oil Control foundation.  It's has a blue cap and there are also other versions of this foundation (i.e. Normal Skin and Sensitive Skin) and they have different colored caps as well. Let's get down to it, shall we?

30 ml/ Retails for around $5
Product claim:
"With our Clean Oil Control Makeup, you'll get all the shine control you want, without the drying coverage you don't. Our Clean foundation is made with ultra-light oil-absorbers that control oil, plus gentle conditioners that help prevent dryness."

I got this for $5 at Target which is a pretty good deal for those of you on a low budget.  So I have the shade 555 'Soft Honey'. It does have a paint smell like most foundations do, but that doesn't really bother me.  When I did use it, the shade was perfect for my skin but I found that around 30 minutes to an hour later it would oxidize to an orange finish.  I'm not really sure if the other shades oxidize, but I can tell you that this one does.

Now let's get down to the coverage, finish, and all that good stuff.  Okay so, usually I'm looking for a medium to full coverage foundation.  Does this foundation have that?  No.  It has a sheer, light coverage which is not my cup of tea.  But only because I have acne, as well as acne scars. And this did not cover it at all.  When I applied it, it seemed to cover any redness I had, but it did not cover my pimples, acne, or acne scars that I had at the time.  But, I would definitely recommend this to any of you that have almost perfect skin and just use foundation for minimal purposes such as evening skin tone or covering redness. On the plus side, it does give a matte finish, which is promised on the bottle.  Also, it does control oil a lot longer than most drugstore foundations do, but only to an extent and not completely if you know what I mean? Basically, it keeps my skin matte longer than a lot of drugstore foundations I've tried, but my oil still seems to seep through because I do have probably the oily-est skin in the world haha. It keeps my shine at bay for about 4-5 hours. On the downside, this particular version did accentuate any dry areas and patches that I had.
Because of my super oily, acne prone skin, this product didn't do any justice on my face.

Pros:
  • Cheap! ~$5
  • Matte finish
  • Good oil control for those with minimal oily skin
  • Absorbs oil
  • Keeps MY shine at bay for about 4-5 hours
Cons:
  • Oxides to an orange finish
  • Accentuates dry areas/patches
  • Sheer Coverage (Can also be a pro)

Final Verdict:  If you have minimally oily skin, then this foundation will soak up all that oil and keep you matte.  Also, if you're looking for a foundation that will cover acne and acne scars, this product is not for you.  I would recommend this product to people with normal skin and also those of you that have almost perfect skin that only need foundation to even out your skin tone, need sheer coverage, etc. Lastly, it's a good deal for a drugstore product!
